Maple Leaf Educational Systems is a Chinese firm that currently operates 14 schools in China enrolling more than 5,000 students.

Maple Leaf’s Schools provide quality educational programs by blending the best of East and West educational practices. Maple Leaf Schools prepare their students well for the global world of tomorrow.

Maple Leaf’s High Schools (Grade 10-12) programs and its Foreign Nationals Schools (K-9) are taught in  English by British Columbia, Canada certified teachers. These programs are inspected and certified by British Columbia’s Ministry of Eductation. Grade 12 graduates receive both the Chinese and British Columbia graduation certificates.

As international students, who have completed a Western (British Columbia, Canada) high school program in English, graduates from Maple Leaf High Schools are actively recruited by Western universities.

Approximately 160 British Columbia, Canada certified teachers are currently teaching in Maple Leaf Schools in China.

School Leader

Mr. Sherman Jen is Chair of Maple Leaf Educational Systems’ Board of Directors. Mr. Jen’s vision has come to fruition. As a Chinese immigrant to Canada, he saw the need for education that would blend the traditional strengths of the Chinese system of education, e.g. dedication, commitment, respect, work effort, memorization, computational skills, etc. with the strengths of the Western system, e.g. higher-level thinking, problem-solving, creative writing, research skills, group discussion and decision-making practices, etc.

Maple Leaf’s Background
Maple Leaf Educational Systems is a rapidly growing educational firm in the People's Republic of China. It has grown from one school with 14 students twelve years ago, to operating six Pre-Schools, a Primary School, a Middle School, three High Schools, two Foreign Nationals Schools and a Post-Secondary Institute of Technology.

Currently more than 5,000 students are enrolled in Maple Leaf schools. More than 350 teachers and 650 staff (including teachers) are employed by Maple Leaf Educational Systems. Approximately 160 of the teachers employed are British Columbia, Canada certified.

Goals and Programs
Maple Leaf Educational Systems’ mission is to provide quality educational programs from pre-school through university that blend the strengths of East and West in education.The programs offered incorporate the strong work ethic, strict discipline, memorization skills, and drive for excellence  developed over a millennium in China's educational system.This is blended with a western educational program that incorporates a wide variety of teaching strategies and learning activities, such as listening, seeing, doing, speaking, discussing, reading, writing, analyzing and creating. Higher level thinking skills, problem-solving approaches and group work are implemented throughout. Maple Leaf’s educational programs are implemented, policies administered, student discipline exercised and school environments generated that promote healthy student development academically, emotionally, mentally and physically.
